Last week there was a sensor turned on, in my dashboard. This has happened to me before, so I immediately knew what the problem was. One, or more of my vehicle's tires had low pressure. Here's a simple guide on how to fix this issue:
1.
Get a tire pressure gauge. If you don't have one, go to an auto parts store such as O'Reilly, Auto Zone, Walmart. Any store that sell car stuff, and buy one. It's always good to have one in your car.
Or simply go directly to the gas station, most of them have a tire pressure gauge attached to the air compresor.
2.
Make sure your tires are cold. Usually if you drive less than 2 miles, your tires should be cold.
Unscrew the valve stem cap from the valve stem on the tire. The valve stem is a black pencil-sized extension near the hubcap, about 1" (2-3 cm) long.
3.
Consult your owner's manual, or your driver side doorpost for recommended tire pressures. Then compare those recommended PSI to the ones the gauge are showing.
4.
Add air if the reading is lower than it should be, or bleed air if the reading is higher than it should be. To bleed air, press the center pin in the valve stem with a fingernail or tool.
5.
Replace valve stem cap. The cap does not hold air in, but it keeps dirt and moisture away from the valve mechanism in the valve stem, which does hold air in.
